I hear thunder

by faffajane @ 04/07/06 - 16:36:02

Really hot day today.  Very humid but the dogs had a great time in the garden and it was lovely listening to the birds singing.

Then dark clouds approached and the singing stopped.  The only sound that could be heard was from my two dogs who were agitated.  Rumble could be heard in the distance.  All was still.

Flash of lightning.  Eldest bravely got in my washing, rumbles could be heard in the distance and we sat in the conservatory and watched as it got darker and darker and darker......................
Dark at 4 in the afternoonThis is how dark it was at 4 this afternoon.

Trees began to move slightly, then upped there pace waving frantically in the wind.  Leaves going past the window as if they had been caught in a gale force wind and were blowing on an autumns day.  Dogs now frantic, lightning getting worse, thunder getting louder.  Now we have hailstones banging on the conservatory roof and it looks like midnight outside .outside houseback gardenThe hailstones came down really hard and soon there was a pool of water all over the patio.hailstones
Eldest said everything looks like it has been covered in a fine blanket of snow!
It is still very humid here and we still have hailstones raining down with forked lightning and very loud thunder noises.  One dog is hiding under the bed in eldest room, the other one is barking loudly as he runs round the house!

Boredom

by faffajane @ 04/07/06 - 07:43:55

Well on the advice of the hospital, I went to my own doctor yesterday to get leg checked out and as he was examining it I heard it go pop (and I hit the roof with the pain) "Yep" he said "definately a torn muscle, will take a while to mend suggest you take this week off, keep taking the pills and rest". Oh joy!

So a week of work and I am bored already. I can't enjoy the sunshine, apart from it being too hot, the heat causes muscles to swell and that can be painful.

So how did I do it? I still have no idea. I looked it all up on the internet - leg elevated which was difficult- and a lot of this injury is done if you do sports. Now that is laughable I didn't do sports when I was at school the only lesson I successfully got out off on a regular basis! It has been a while since I have done any pilates, and the only thing I can think of is the amount of walking I did when I was away on the activity weekend, though in reality I didn't even walk very fast more like a gentle stroll.

Doctor did say to keep on with flexing foot and circling it when elevated, not to do any exercise for at least 6-8 weeks and to rest as much as possible. To start walking once I can put foot flat to the floor but rest as soon as their is pain and only do gentle walk. Can put foot flat to the floor but cannot walk yet as I cannot put any weight on that leg! Oh well it will be an interesting few days perhaps I will get some sewing done.
