Well following on from my morning post I eventually managed to drag the menfolk from the comfort of their beds and announced if I didn't get any help then the whole idea was off. Ok so I ended up still having to make the rolls - ham with cucumber, ham with pickle or just plain ham, but once they were done it was just a matter of putting them in the cool bag along with drinks, crisps, cakes and sausage rolls.
We originally wanted to go to Barnwell Country Park up in Northamptonshire which resulted in trawling through the huge stack of photo albums we had to get the correct name - yes I date and name all photos as it will be nice to look at when the kids are older and then it is self explanatory! The last time we had been there was before we had children in fact it was before we got married! Anyway we located it on the map, loaded up the car and off we went - well after eldest walked the dogs as our whippet, Baron, gets a bit hyper when he is in the car!!
So there we were driving towards it when we passed the entrance to Stanwick lakes. As we went past hubby commented on how nice it looked, so we ended up turning round and driving in.

Wow was first impression. It was massive. Paths neatly laid out, long walk round them, adventure playgound for the kids as well as an assault course, they had a whale of a time. Dogs were totally exhausted by the time we walked round the lakes, and even though there were a lot of families with children, people on bikes, joggers and other dog walkers, it was rare to come across someone else as we were walking.
Picnic was very nice, another explore round much to our Grey's disgust who just wanted to collapse in the car, and work his way through the two bottles of water we took with us for the dogs!

Weather was perfect, humid and overcast at times but when the sun came out it was very hot, in fact I now have a red nose! Leg is now aching again, back is twingeing as well, but we all enjoyed it including the kids!
if you are ever in the area I definately recommend this as a place to go.
