  • To add to the excitement...

I have been out, looked around and ordered a dishwasher from Currys. It is booked to arrive on the 14th as I am off work then. Very excited, can't wait and at least i will not have to worry about food poisoning due to eldest son's inability to wash up properly!

Was very tempted by special offer of tv. I knew I shouldn't have dragged Nigel out with me but needs must! I have told him he is welcome to get a fire for the lounge but as for the rest the answer is no. I want to save some of the money we got from the insurance for rainy day. I know it is boring but I am so fed up with things going wrong and the fear that we will not be able to pay for things at least if some of it is saved I have got something to fall back on. That is my theory anyway.

So for now I have earmarked some of the money for various things that we have needed wanted for a while and will save the rest. Also told him that the extra £70 we have saved from the mortgage is also going to be put away in the savings account each month as well. Think this is sensible personally!

I feel as though a weight has been lifted. It has been a struggle these last few months but at least now I am beginning to see the light again!

  • Tornado

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6217514.stm

Hubby was caught in this today. Fortunately he is ok, but he said it was quite bizarre. One minute there was just high winds, next huge hailstones then this deafening noise. As he looked out of the window of the house he was working in he could see peoples roofs being ripped off and bits of tree, bins etc going past. he says it didn't last long and fortunately he was safe where he was, but lucky he wasn't driving down the road. quite scary what is happening to our weather lately!

  • In honour of Stupid people

In Honour of Stupid People . . .
In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through
stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- "Do not turn upside
down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh!)

On Sainsbury's peanuts -- "Warning: contains nuts."
    (talk about a news flash)

On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a car or operate
machinery after taking this medication." (We could do a lot to reduce
the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those 5
    year-olds with head-colds off those
    bulldozers.)

On Marks &Spencer Bread Pudding -- "Product will be hot after heating."
    (...and you thought????...)

On a Sears hairdryer -- Do not use while sleeping.
(That's the only time I have to work on my hair.)

On a bag of Fritos -- You could be a winner! No purchase necessary.
    Details inside. (the shoplifter special?)

On a bar of Dial soap -- "Directions: Use like regular soap."

    (and that would be???....)

On some Swanson frozen dinners --
    "Serving suggestion: Defrost."
    (but, it's just a suggestion.)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron -- "Do not iron clothes on body." (but
    wouldn't this save me time?)

On Nytol Sleep Aid -- "Warning: May cause drowsiness." (....I'm taking
    this because???....)

On most brands of Christmas lights -- "For indoor or outdoor use only."
    (as opposed to what?)

On a Japanese food processor -- "Not to be used for the other use."
(now, somebody out there, help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts -- "Instructions: Open packet,
eat nuts." (Step 3: say what?)

On a child's Superman costume -- "Wearing of this garment does not
enable you to fly." (I don't blame the company. I blame the parents for
    this one.)

On a Swedish chainsaw -- "Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands
or genitals." (Oh my God..was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)

Now that you've smiled at least once, it's your turn to spread the
stupidity to someone you want to bring a smile to (maybe even
    chuckle)...

  • Oh the excitement!

My new mortgage has come through!!! I should be at work and yes I am going, heading out of the door when the postman put the letter in my hand! I could have kissed him! Fixed rate and now paying less than we were before.

Of course now I will have to sort a few other things out but this is a huge weight of my mind!

Right off to work to earn some money!!

  • Another Thursday arrives

Thursday arrives. Alarm goes off and I turn it on to radio. Sleep through money news, groan when NC comes on and listen to the latest on the cricket - seems like an argument is brewing over Panisar (sp) not playing!

Nig swears blind he saw him in Sainsburys yesterday - don't think so some how.

Another day closer to the end of the week. Day off tomorrow though I very nearly got roped in to cover, fortunately I found out in time and took myself off the list - hair appointment then the joys of MIL computer. She text me last night (11pm) asking how to delete an email!

she has all this written down once already, how many times does she have to be told?

Bank account looking healthy for once. Insurance money has come through, shame it won't be in there for long as it has been earmarked for various things - dishwasher, new fire for lounge, cavity wall insulation etc. At least I won't have to find for these things from my housekeeping money!

Nig is counting down the days till his holiday. He is taking quite a bit of time off over xmas, good for me to have him around, but it will mean he will be under my feet quite a lot so - bless him. Only 1 week and 4 days to go for me and counting!!

Right I am going to sign off and get ready for work, and drag the kids out of bed. will leave you with a quote from Steven Hawkins

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.
