Go back a few years, I am working part time in my current role and youngest child has just started school.
I have left work and have just about enough time to quickly go round the supermarket and buy something for tonight's tea before I pick youngest up from school.
I park the car and head off into the supermarket.
when I come out I walk to the car but it is not there. I know I parked it here, afterall I always park it in the same area of the car park otherwise I will forget where I parked it, but it definately not there.
Check watch, no need to panic, have 10 mins before I have to be at the school, so I start to walk up and down the car park looking for my car.
However I do not find it.
Cnvinced it has been stolen, I find my mobile to phone Nig
Phone battery is dead.
By now I begin to panic 5 minutes and counting before I need to pick up youngest child and the car is nowhere to be seen.
So I stand there, looking out over the sea of cars trying to spot the one car that is mine and getting more and more panicy by the second, when the nice young man, with body odour that collects the trolleys, comes over to relieve me of mine.
He looks at me. "are you alright?" he asks
I am almost hyperventilating by now. "No I have lost my car, I think it has been stolen" I reply.
"Ok love" he says, "Give me a description and I will see if I can find it for you."
"Its a Vauxhall Vectra" says I.
"What colour?"
"gold"
He looks at me quizzically, i wonder if there is something on my teeth or something and now I know I have a child who is probably crying because mum hasn't arrived to pick him up, hubby isn't there to help me, I can't get in contact with him and ............
"Ok, Ok," says the trolley man trying his best to calm down a nigh on hysterical woman. "It's ok love, we will find it. whats the Reg number?"
As I begin to tell him, he starts to laugh.
As I turn towards him to start shouting at him, he points to a car and says "Did you not notice you were standing by your car all this time?"
To this day I cannot look the poor man in the eye.
