The wedding went well despite the continual rain that we had yesterday, and yes it kept stopping and starting and coming down very very hard at times.
However the bride was beautiful in an off white dress, the Bridesmaids in lovely gold dresses and even the little bridesmaid was very sweet.
The service was lovely and very personal. Believe me I have been to a few weddings where it has been rushed, or the vicar hasn't known anything about the couple he is to marry to he has just stuck to the format required, gone through the ritual and dismissed everyone afterwards. This on though, obviously went out of his way to find out things about the couple in front of him and talked about them to the congregation as he went through the service. The sister of the bride, and the brother of the groom, read through the Bible passage in clear voices, bringing a tear to the eye.
Unfortunately at the end, the heavens opened and the rain poured down so the Bride and groom had their photos taken indoors in front of a magnificent stained glass window which is dedicated to those parishoners who lost their lives int he first and 2nd world wars.
Then out to the car where they got their farewells from the congregation and we all headed off to the Rugby Club for the reception.
Now I have to say this was also superb. When the Bride and Groom arrived and were cheered, greeted and mingled, we had a lovely meal of roast beef, chicken, yourkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, bread, roaste potatoes, new potatoes, roast veg, cauliflower and carrots (steamed), and for dessert - fruit salad and vanilla cheesecake. We were quite frankly stuffed.
Speeches followed, the father of the bride was choked, the groom nervous, the best man very sedate. The first dance, and yes they make a lovely couple.
The photographer deserves a mention here. Expensive by all accounts, but by God he was worth every penny they were paying him. There he was throughout, not only doing the official photographs ( and apparently this included him laying on wet grass in the rain to take photos as well) he also mingled with the crowd taking photos of the children having fun, the quests at the tables, the first dance and some of the disco, which is nice as you don't very often see the side of people enjoying themselves unless someone uses those cameras that are put on the tables or your own!
Very tired and worn out at 1 this morning we managed to crawl into our beds. I really wish the happy couple years of happiness ahead of them as they embark on the new era of their life
