As far as I am aware, bonfire night is on 5th November.
Now I know that we usually get fireworks going off a few days, if not a week or two beforehand, and usually for a few months afterwards, well at least until the new year anyway, but there is some idiot out there who has lit a bonfire, the smell of it is wafting around the house as the windows were open, and letting off fireworks!!! i really wish I could be bothered to hunt the culprit down and report them but it is dark and late and I have a feeling that it is from one of the housing estates that is behind us.
Talking of which, in the local paper was an article about how that estate and another estate in our town, which got completely harangued by a well known spreadsheet earlier in the year, states that gangs of youths from the two estates are in a turf war, fighting over which one is better and there being no go areas if you are from one or the other estates.
This in turns makes me ponder, what the hell was my son doing walking home from town when he was given explicit and clear instructions to tell me when he wanted me to pick him up? It is a 45 minute walk from town to our house!
hubby says I shouldn't have a go at him, he is 15, he should be allowed some freedom and he was sensible as he did have someone to walk home with so it wasn't as though he was alone.
But that is besides the point. I am his mother, I am allowed to worry about these things. I know hubby is right, but I can't help but worry can I?
