Or as my youngest child has just said as I typed the title "15 days to go"
Now am in panic mode.
Ok most of the presents were purchased online this year, and hubby has the insane notion of going Christmas shopping on Friday to Milton Keynes, though I think he wants to see the Christmas display more than anything else lol!
The sewing however is another matter. Ideally I need it to be in the framers this week and I still haven't finished. Fortunately I have an upset stomach today so a marathon stitching session is ahead of me once I have the kids at school and out of my way
The local Hospice came round the other day, with a Santa and his train being pulled by a car, much to my eldest son's disgust, playing carols and knocking on the doors collecting money. I don't mind supporting them, they do a lot of good work on very little or, as in the case of the childrens hospice, no money from the Government. They were giving sweets to all the children who went outside to see Santa as well which was nice. Shame I was getting ready to go out or I would have taken a picture or two.
Hubby put some more money in the box when he saw them standing outside Toys r Us in the retail park, I hate that place, but just sometimes when you are trying to get that one item, in this case a board game, you have to go there.
As usual it was packed out with screaming children throwing tantrums because they couldn't have that toy now "you don't know if Santa already has it darling", Parents with little or no control, and the ones that have to open every box to see what is inside - obviously because the picture on the outside isn't good enough!
I am being unfair here, there were a couple of parents that had completed control over their chidren - one who wouldn't let their very young child get out of the trolley, the other who held onto her young son's hand so he couldn't go running off to take the bikes of display and ride them round the store. Course there were the parents who did the bribery "darling if you behave I will buy you this game" then turns to hubby and says "we will buy the other one for Christmas" An expensive bribe at £40 I thought but whatever works for you.
One thing I have never done with my children, even in a dreaded toy store, is bribe them. You behave. I expect a certain standard of behaviour - you do not touch, you do not ask, you do not whinge, if you do we leave. Then again I have only had to deal with one tantrum while out shopping and I am lucky so I certainly wouldn't condone anyone who disciplines their children in any way because it is all about what works for you really, so please don't read it as such. Just trying to paint a picture of a toy store at this time of year and the fact that I find it hellish to go there lol!
Right enough rambling on, better go and drag the children out of bed lol!
Have a good day
