  • Where has the time gone

So today, rush round tidying up, go to the physio department at the hospital for my appointment where I am told that I have some damage to my neck and it is stiff.

No kidding!! I could have told them that.

anyway to cut a long story short I have some exercises to do to loosen up the muscles in my neck and I have to go back again on the 4th Jan.

Then wait for hubby to come home and then drop him off by the motorway where his friend was collecting him to drive up to Manchester for the footie - their dedication is astounding. He says he will be home around 2 tonight, that is ok as long as he isn't expecting me to wait up for him!

Went and picked up the dragon picture I cross stitched all now framed and ready to be wrapped for Christmas.

Now have to pop out again and collect youngest from school where he was staying late at Choir practice

Then he may want to go to the school disco but I may, just may, talk him out of that one!

    We shall see:)

  • So what is this about Faggots?

I never was a fan of the Pogues, neither was I one of Kirsty MaColl. However that didn't stop me from liking their Christmas hit Fairytale of New York.

So Now Radio 1, 20 years after it was released has decided to ban the word "faggot" from the lyrics because it may cause offence.

Who is offended exactly? I know my Gay friend and his partner isn't offended by it, in fact I can see them now bellowing the tune out at the Karaoke machine, they love it!

But I am offended. I am offended by Radio 1 making and taking this action.

    Not at all happy.

But then again I stopped listening to Radio 1 years ago when they started to play more Hip hop dance music, and R&B rather than the music I liked, or the variety of music offered by other stations.

    Now that did offend me!

Fortunately My local station has just played it and have not banned the word Faggot. I will continue to listen to them......for now:)

  • Art raises blood pressure

GP's nude paintings raise blood pressure

    JOHN HOWARD

A GP surgery has had to remove risqué nude paintings after fears they were raising patients' blood pressures.

Doctors at the Stowhealth centre in Violet Hill Road, Stowmarket, had been hoping to raise the ambiance of their practise with striking artwork.

But the centre, which cares for 16,000 people in and around the town, has found parts of the latest exhibition are just too naughty for local tastes and are raising blood pressures instead.

Dr Louise Skioldebrand, a GP and partner, said: “When the body snatchers art group hung the work they did so during the evening when there were no patients around.

“The art group had hung one of the more risqué pictures just above the blood pressure machine which we decided was probably not the best place for it. It was a drawing of a well endowed woman.

“We suggested that it should come down and it has been put upstairs instead in a corridor on the way to our in-house gym. There were also a couple of other pictures that we felt we could not have. Life drawings do tend to be predominantly nude.

“We have to be sensitive to patients needs. We want to lift the atmosphere of the building for staff and visitors, there is not much in the way of art in Stowmarket. We wanted to be able to bring professional art to people who might not necessarily come across it.”

Jez Cooksley, a personal trainer who runs the gym at the health centre, said: “These full chested women were hung near the door at first, but were moved very quickly to near my gym.

“I think it is good, it is art and is good for the building, and lifts people's spirits. As long as my clients don't suffer from raised heart rates before seeing me for a workout.”

Body Snatchers is a group of artists who have a passion for exploring the human form

Rosy Ferguson, an artist with the group based at Bury St Edmunds, said: “Some images are a little strong for the more elderly patients.

“We are a group who are almost all formally trained artists working in a variety of styles and based around the human figure.”

The art, which went on display at the end of last month, continues until March and comes after the large modern practice had artists in residence for a number of years focussing on themes including breast cancer and teenage pregnancy.

The body snatcher exhibition can be viewed at the surgery Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.30pm.
