Multiple emails, anyone help?

Ok here goes

I use Outlook Express as my email client (against my better judgement)

Everything has been going fine so far, however, over the last couple of weeks whenever I send a message to someone it comes through their end about 6-7 times! I only send it the once! It is getting very annoying now.

I have scanned all emails and the computer for viruses and trojan horses etc etc and nothing shows up.

Any ideas?

Oh ISP is Virgin Media btw, blaming them at the moment lol:)

My dad is finding Virgin Media useless like that too!

They are driving me nuts!!

Its likely to be either Virgin Media being useless or something is set up wrong with Outlook Express! You can always go to the Virgin Media website and use their webmail function, should prevent that problem!

I have checked Outlook Express and nothing has changed there at all. I won't use the virgin webmail purely because I have several email addresses and it is easier to have them downloaded into one place - which makes me think it is virgin :)

It could be if you are using several email addresses through Outlook Express that each email address is sending the email, so thats why people are getting multiple copies? I have no idea, this is just pure guesswork!

I thought of that, then checked it and no that isn't happening either:))

Strange then - I'm out of ideas!

Try Thunderbird....it seems fine with Virgin Media....don't like Outlook Express at all...GBHs...

Maybe it's getting repeated fail messages where in fact it's sent ok?

Then the prog would keep trying to send it so multiple copies?

I agree with Jenray, I use Thunderbird, it's very solid.

Didn't consider that, might look into thunderbird:)

Maybe it's worth trying Denzil's idea of sending from Virgin's webmail, then if the recipients are still getting duplicate emails you'll know it's Virgin and not Outlook Express. You could also try signing up to Webuser's forum (webuser.co.uk) and asking on there, they are usually pretty quick at coming up with answers.
