If it isn't enough that I am on tenterhooks, with a phone attached to my hip pocket of my trousers - just in case, and the said phone goes off in a middle of the lesson, a science one at that, making me jump and the children turn and stare as I run out of class with a Foo fighters tune blaring away - only to find it wasn't the call I have been anxiously waiting for but my son's class teacher calling me!
I then fume as I am told how I should support my child, how he hasn't done his homework and how they expect me to keep an eye on his diary!
I was polite, there were people listening in (a corridor is not the best place to have a conversation in a school).
However it was halfterm. Ok I realise my child is in year 6 which with SATS looming is stressful enough. I don't think, even with good intentions, that homework should have been set and three lots of it at that, during half term a time when children should be allowed to be children and not think about school. He did read to me, he did do some work for me but he was adamant he didn't have any homework.
No I didn't check his homework diary. I don't expect to have to go down his bag to look for it, at 10 years of age I expect him to take some responsibility and to give me his diary each evening.
Then when I see the diary I notice there was an incident before half term which had been written in his diary - I should have signed it but hadn't seen it.
He is in a lot of trouble right now, all privileges have been taken away indefinitely. By the time I got home from work yesterday I was livid and he got the full force of my anger. Even hubby cowered in the kitchen as I shouted and made known my feelings. My eldest hid in his bedroom - I still haven't seen him yet!
A letter has also been written to his teacher telling her how unhappy I am with him, how disappointed that as a school they feel it isn't enough to pressurise the children while they are in school but make them feel more pressure by sending work for them to do over half term - I am still annoyed at that and if we had decided to go away it wouldn't have got done.
As for support I have done nothing but support him since he started school with me saying there is a problem and being ignored only to get him to year 6 before anything is being done. I don't know who I am more annoyed with, needless to say he'd better not step out of line in the near future!

A group of country friends from the Cottonwood Baptist Church wanted to get together on a regular basis, socialize, and play games. The lady of the house was to prepare the meal.
When it came time for Al and Janet to be the hosts, Janet wanted to outdo all the others. Janet decided to have mushroom-smothered steak. But mushrooms are so expensive. She then told her husband, 'No mushrooms. They are too expensive."
He said, 'Why don't you go down in the pasture and pick some of those mushrooms? There are plenty in the creek bed.'
She said, 'No, some wild mushrooms are poison.'
He said, 'Well, I see varmints eating them and they're OK.' So Janet decided to give it a try. She picked a bunch, washed, sliced, diced them for her smothered steak . Then she went out on the back porch and gave Spot
(the Yard dog) a double handful. Spot ate every bite. All morning long, Janet watched Spot and the wild mushrooms didn't seem to affect him, so she decided to use them.
The meal was a great success, and Janet even hired a helper lady from town to help her serve. She had on a white apron and a fancy little cap on her head. After everyone had finished, they relaxed, socialized, and played 42 and dominoes. About then, the helper lady from town came in and whispered in Janet's ear.
She said, 'Mrs. Williams, Spot is dead.'
Janet went into hysterics. After she finally calmed down, she called the Doctor and told him what had happened.
The doctor said, 'That's bad, but I think we can take care of it. I will call for an ambulance and I will be there as quick as possible. We'll give everyone enemas and we will pump out everyone's stomach. Everything will be fine. Just keep them calm.'
Soon they could hear the siren as the ambulance was coming down the road. The EMTs and the doctor had their suitcases, syringes, and a stomach pump. One by one, they took each person in to the bathroom, gave them an enema, and pumped out their stomach.
After the last one was finished, the doctor came out and said, 'I think everything will be fine now.' and he left.
They were all looking pretty weak sitting around the living room and about this time the helper lady came in and said,
'You know, that fellow that ran over Spot never even stopped."

The iBreast will cost between $499 and $599.
This is considered to be a major breakthrough because women are always
complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them. .

The Snow Plough
One winter morning Ken and his wife were listening to the radio over breakfast. They hear the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the Snowploughs can get through.
Ken's wife goes out and moves her car. A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 10 to 12 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so the Snowploughs can get through."
Ken's wife goes out and moves her car again. The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says, "We are expecting 12 to 14 inches of snow today. You must park...." Then the power goes out. Ken's wife is very upset and with a worried look on her face she says, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the Snowploughs can get through?"
With the love and understanding in his voice that all men who are married to Blondes exhibit, Ken says, "Why don't you just leave it in the garage this time?"

Since starting college, my eldest has made a number of friends, which is a good thing except when he wishes to spend Saturday evenings with them.
Why?
Because nearly all of them live on the other side of town. No buses from here to there and I don't like him walking around town at night. So I have to drive him to destination, then pick him up which means I can't have a drink or relax!
7pm he had to be at one friend's house tonight. I have told him I will pick him up at 11. I think that is long enough even if he doesn't.
Not that he complained, it isn't often he goes out so I can't complain really but it would be nice if once in a while hubby did the taxi service bit after all it is his son as well.
"But I don't know the roads around here as well as you do!" he says "I don't know where he had to go!"
"Learn" says I afterall I had to look it up on google maps, he has a GPS system!
So he takes himself of and has a bath instead, conveniently forgetting that his son wants to go out, so I had to take him and no doubt will pick him up as well it will be easier in the long run!
So now I sit here while Transformers plays, a film he has watched umpteen times now but still giggles at.
A wonderful way to spend Saturday evening

We went into town this morning as we usually do on a Saturday. The bank was empty and so were most of the stores despite there being a lot of people around.
We had the kids with us today as they wanted to go into the local CEX shop and trade in some of their games. They got £50 all together after they traded, in a credit note, that they bought some games with leaving them with £12 that they can spend another time.
I saw the phone that I want in there, but I am looking around at others. Not sure what I am looking for other than an upgraded version or something similar to the phone I currently have Sony Ericsson K510i.
Ate breakfast in town, caught up with a couple of friend we saw then off to the barbers for the kids and hubby to get their hair cut.
Back home now, I am catching up and making the most of my last couple of days of freedom before we go back to work![]()

I can't keep up no matter how hard I try.
Even if I do log on and check I find I have missed posts. i can't do this no more.
I set up my blog for me. Somewhere for me to go, to vent, to share, to display. I put pictures on here I found funny, ones I liked, ones that made me laugh. I post about my day when I can (and when it is not too boring), I post jokes I write what I like, because this blog is for me, about me as it should be.
I got distracted.
The idea of groups was exciting. I joined in I posted, I shared - but really were there was nothing different on there I wouldn't put in my own blog. So why do it?
So today, I took the decision to remove myself from some group blogs because afterall I can share my pictures, my jokes, lifes ups and downs on here can't I?
The only one I have kept is the blogmeet one, because who knows, one day I may be able to join in![]()

"For over Forty Years, Michal Lived and Reigned in David's court. She was the beautiful and proud daughter of King Saul and the Prize David would risk his kingdom to win. Behind the palace doors, beneath the burning sun of the desert, or fleeing from Absalom's warriors, Michal was at the center of court intrigues. Queenmaker introduces in unforgettable detail the characters of one of the greatest periods in Biblical history - their public deeds and private thoughts - and gives us the court of the kings as only a woman could see it."
I admit, this book was an impulse buy while waiting for hubby as he browsed round a shop with the children, when we were on holiday in 2005. Alas I didn't read it and it lay on the pile of books to be read ever since. Looking through them the other day I came across it and thought I had better start reading it - and was hooked.
It isn't highbrow and don't let the fact that the characters are ones from the Bible put you off. I admit I had never heard of Michal and I know little of David apart from the fact that he slew the giant Goliath. My recollections of bible study class and his tale is just snippet of information that aren't really all that relevant.
This story is told from the woman's point of view, one who starts out lusting and believing herself to be in love with David, a love that turns to hatred and how she manages to use this to manipulate a great king for her own needs. It isn't a bitchy book, neither do you need to feel that it is romantic in any way. There is plenty to captivate a male and female audience, how Michal learns the hard way that men will have their way and power and the game they play. It is in David's court that she learns to manipulate, while using her wits and beauty to play a game that is just as intricate and winning.
This is a clever work of fiction, based on a Bible story, where the characters come to life the detail to how life was in ancient times is cleverly woven in, a book that easy to read and page turning. I am glad that I purchased this book now even if it took me too long to pick it up and read it

There isn't anything wrong, in fact i am quite happy (shock horror!)
The phone is by my side constantly.
I am on edge and jump everytime it rings.
I ache from exercise, my legs are sore from the squats.
Wii personal trainer should be renamed "Torture sessions!" and come with a health warning.
There is a stew for tea tonight, nice and easy chuck all the ingredients into a slow cooker and let it cook till you need it!
Need to get the hoover out. Need to do another torture session.
so with all this I am happy, but why can't I get going unless I have sat and read half a book?
In other news the Wii fit has told me I have reduced my fitness age to more acceptable level, told me I have lost 3Ibs, and my center of balance is getting better. Wasn't so kind to other members of my family though!

Right closing computer, closing book, now going to get that housework and torturing done even if it kills me!

Started well.
Woke up to kisses.
Had a lovely cup of tea in bed. Opened our cards, told each other we loved each other (well we do that everyday anyway). Thanked him for the flowers.
Shopping - nightmare, had breakfast.
Debenhams - "Oh look at this game Faffa, think we will buy this. It will be our valentine's present to us!" Hmm in other words you want to play the game and I will have to sit there and listen to you swear at it - whoppeeee (said sarcastically). He purchases the game
.
Back home - having another cuppa.
What is planned - Starters crispy mushrooms with salsa dip, main course stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in bacon served with roast potatoes and roast vegetables, dessert - jaffa cake dessert with clotted cream.
So that will give me at least 4 hours on the computer before I have to start cooking while he plays his game![]()

I hate to see people being hurt by others, by people being made to feel they are no longer part of a community.
I hate the way people have to destroy something that is fun and make it into something it is not.
I hate the fact some people have to hide behind others. I hate that people do not always come out into the open and be honest with others but criticise instead.
This I can ignore.
BUT more than anything, more than all the above
I hate the fact that someone, who does not know me personally, has not tried to get to know me through reading my blog, can accuse me, privately, of something that anyone who really does know me will know I would not do.
That is what caused me to vent my feelings. This is my blog I like to be open. I don't do things any other way, never assume I do.
I am not going anywhere.

Ok what the hell is going on in Blogland at the moment.
Why is it when I read through posts I see people are upset.
Why do people insist upon upsetting others?
Why do people with such meaningless lives have to make life miserable for others? Can't you see the reason why your life is so meaningless is because you are so fucking nasty, that you are not a nice person to be around? So because you are miserable you have to go out of your way to upset others.
Oh yes that makes you feel so good doesn't it!
Get a bloody life you moronic son of a bitch you are not worth the air that you breath.

My maths test was due to be taken at 7pm this evening online.
It has been cancelled.
Why?

I wouldn't mind so much but it is chucking it down outside it is raining hard and has been most of the day, so really it will not be that icy at 7pm!

We managed to dig the car out of the driveway. We slid down the road to the main road and got to town safely for the usual Saturday chore. We popped into Sainsburys for milk on the way home. Parking a nightmare. No trolleys. No baskets. Eventually found a trolley but might as well have left it where we found it as the store was packed, people panic buying, just chucking anything that was eatable into their trolleys and getting in the way.
Disaster struck though. NO MILK!! Apparently it all got sold within the first hour of opening this morning. The fridge was bare. In fact there wasn't much on the shelves at all
We have stocked up on hot cross buns though:
Has anyone else noticed that the price of petrol has gone up again?

Hubby home safe and sound.
Funny moment he couldn't get his van up our road, due to the snow.
All the men in the street helped to push it otherwise he was blocking the road. It was quite funny wished I had thought to take my camera out with me.
One way to get to know the neighbours!
We now have 8 inches of snow. It has stopped snowing now, only just but looks like there is more up there to come.
Igloo is quite big at the bottom of the road, apparently it isn't the local kids buiding it, it is the men in the street, who haven't been to work this week because they can't get their vans/cars off the drive!
Hubby and both boys have now taken the dogs for a walk and getting some chips from the chippy

So this morning I am up at a disgusting time of the morning considering I have the day off work. Why? Hubby kicked me out of bed to make him a cup of tea as he still has to make his way in. Again he has to go to London, something he isn't looking forward to especially as the snow is coming down really hard and fast at the moment - falling on compacted ice!
I will not be going out in this today at all, going to stay in wrapped up warm.
The weather forecast for this area for the next few days says that tomorrow there will be sun! Makes you wonder if that still exists really so that would be nice to see. However there will be sleet/snow on Sunday and guess what? Monday heavy snow forecast again and much of the same again for the rest of the week. Beginning to get a little sick of it all really, there is only so much snow one can take. Still I rather it was like this and cold instead of constant rain so shouldn't really complain.
Right enough rambling, time to refresh and see if youngest son's school is closed as well, not that he is going in as I am certainly not going out in this![]()
Have a good day and take care.
@ 05/02/09 – 07:57:46
Before we start the usual round of how soft the Southerners are, how a bit of snow brings London to a standstill etc etc, may I state here and now there are some southerners that would only be too glad to be able to get to work.
Yet again, despite having had several warnings about the forthcoming snow fall, despite having had plenty of time to stock up on salt/grit whatever it is they want to put on the roads, we find that we are facing major closures of schools, roads not gritted, transport come to a halt, major accidents on motorways and major roads, and people unable to get into work.
It isn't the southerners that are soft. We were the ones who were prepared. We, the ordinary person, knew what awaited us, some of us stocked up, some of us decided we will try to get to where we should be no matter what. The local authorities had other ideas. They were the ones who didn't grit the roads. They were the ones who ran out of grit/salt to salt the roads rendering them dangerous. They were the ones who did not take precautions. They were the ones who have made it impossible for transport to run, for buses to run on roads that are dangerous would endanger the public they are trying to get to where they should be. Despite money being thrown at public transport it hasn't got any better. Fares going up on the trains hasn't made any improvements to keep them running. we are told that these fares and price rises will ensure improvements yet we haven't seen anything done to improve the transport to enable it to run when we are covered by snow.
The worst snow in 20 years.
Perhaps it is that which caught them out, instead of the sprinkling that catches them out it has been a major fall.
Schools closed. Yes when I was a child schools rarely closed. It isn't teachers being lazy. It isn't headteachers deciding they want the day off. I found out that the school I work at hte head never closes the school, it is very rare occurance. This time he has. We have staff that do not live nearby. Lots of schools have teachers coming in from miles away. If they can't get in because the roads are deemed too dangerous because they haven't been gritted there isn't enough staff to run the school. School closes. course there is also the health and safety aspect of it all. Little Johnny gets hit by a snowball and the parents sue the school - it has happened. Little Harriet falls over in the snow by the school gates, parents sue the council/school.
Yes we can all say we are namby pamby, not just southerners because lets face it, we can all recount tales of people suing in the same way they do in America because it is easier to blame someone else rather than take responsibility for youself.
The presenters on the radio are telling people not to go out unless it is absolutely necessary. My husband is working in London today, he has gone out. I worry, not for him as he is a good competent driver but I know that event though he will take it easy, will go slow others will not. Take for instance the polish lorry driver seen doing 60mph on the motorway in the snow the other evening while playing a DVD in his cab! (no I am not picking on the polish, he had polish number plates on his lorry). The white van man who drove round our cul de sac, his wheels slipping in the ice (because the snow hasn't cleared from the last downfall, all compacted making it an ice skating rink the kids have enjoyed) yet still didn't slow down. The man down the road who cleared an inch of snow of his windscreen to peer out of and neglected to clear the snow off the rest of the windows, or the passenger side of the windscreen. People like these who cause accidents through their sheer stupidity. That is why I worry.
Yes I am a southerner. Today there is no work. Today the school is closed. My town is at a standstill, no buses, no schools open. I cannot get my car off the drive. I have yet to see a road gritter. I am going to have fun in the snow with my children instead. I am not moaning, but I cannot believe local authorities were so unprepared - again!
Stay safe x

I struggled through the ice skating rink they called a road to get to work. There were only two schools in the area that were open, we were one of them. The estate surrounding the school had not been gritted due to it not being a main road, not that this made much difference after all the main road I came down to get to the estate was not gritted all that well, afterall despite driving at 10mph and taking foot of the accelerator as I approached the roundabout, I still hit black ice and managed to end up with traffic coming at me! All was ok, after all everyone had the sense today to go slow rather than drive like maniacs they usually do along that road.
My son had to come in with me as his school was closed. He enjoyed the day though I did make sure he had some work to do while I was in class. He enjoyed it particularly when he met someone he knew from when he did the cycle lessons last summer. Lunchtime the children were allowed to play on the field. They had great fun throwing snowballs and making snowmen (sorry I don't belong to the pc brigade so if saying snowmen instead of snowpeople upsets you tough!). Lots of cold children, but they had fun in the snow.
I am glad to be home now though. My cold has come out in full force. My nose is blocked one minute then running like a tap the next. I have gone through a pack of tissues already!
Right off to watch some telly and chill with a beechams.
Hope you all had a safe day xx

The snow arrived here overnight, in abundance. My car is totally white. hubby listened to the traffic reports on the radio, the M1 was clogged up and after being told a million times not to travel unless it was absolutely necessary he decided work wasn't necessary and stayed at home. The kids and I listened to the local radio and waited eagerly for our various schools to be mentioned. Richard's is closed and eventually so was mine. Simon unfortunately still has to go to sixth form which remained open despite all the local schools closing and the main colleges as well.
He is not happy.
I took a few photos nothing exceptional but I thought they were nice all the same. I am huddled up on the sofa still trying to breath through a blocked nose watching some rubbish film hubby has found and trying to decide whether to toast a hot cross bun or not.
Right off to make a cup of tea now.
