Going bankrupt

Edest son is currently online researching universities.

He already has us booked in for an open day at Aberystwyth in October which means I will have to ask for time off work to get him there.

I have no idea what he wants to do yet but he has always wanted to go to Wales and sees this as his chance. Mind you if we wrangle it right and are nice to my aunt and Uncle when we go to visit them in July, he may be able to stay with them which will save on residency fees I hope. If not, on top of tuition fees and everything else I can see us going bankrupt in the near future!

He is going to have to get a job!

really difficult isn't it nowadays...you get an education for your kids and then they're out of work because no jobs to go to or there are others more experienced than them on the jobs market... Bad business all round...Good luck though with whatever he decides to do...GBHs...XXX

It is so hard for students these days, i went a few years ago as a mature student and saw how the young uns had to work so hard to live and to study - there is never enough investment in their future from the government and soon it will be back to only the rich being able to go - a sad state of affairs indeed. Hope he likes it there and you manage to sweet talk the aunt and uncle - although i suspect he would prefer halls!!

i am tempted to move to Scotland before my youngest three start . be alot cheaper..no fees

Ouch! Can he get a scholarship or some other kind of financial support from the government while he's studying? It's possible over here but you do have to pay it back within 6 (?) years after you've finished your studies.

Good for him, though, that he's planning for a good education (which will get him better jobs) and not bum around at home.
